Pastor Shelley installed as the Adams Lutheran Church
permanent pastor on January 5, 2020
My name is Rev. Shelley Nelson. Two years ago I retired from full-time settled ministry after serving a two-point call at Hope Lutheran in Dixon, IA and New Era Lutheran in Muscatine, IA. Previous to our time in Iowa, I served at Belmont and my husband did an interim at Wiota. After retiring, I took training to become an intentional interim pastor to be able to help congregations who have experienced a change in leadership. I was born and raised on the south side of Milwaukee in Cudahy, WI. Marriage and ministry have taken me to many places throughout the mid-west and plains states. I am a graduate of Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. I have served churches in Wisconsin, Iowa, and North Dakota. We have come back to WI at this time in our life and ministry to be more centrally located to our five sons, Aaron, Dubuque, IA, Todd (wife Beth and their children L.J. and Josh) Green Bay, WI, Erik (wife Erin and their children Mara and Isaac) Rochester, MN, Andrew (wife Liesl and their children Ian and Ella) Milwaukee, WI, and Noah (wife Jessica and their daughter Cecelia) Green Bay, WI. We now live in Baraboo, WI. My husband, Rev. Gaylor Nelson, is just starting an interim for the UMC at Cobb and Montfort. In addition to part-time duties at Adams, I am also a full-time caregiver for my husband who is a liver transplant recipient. I’m also getting to know my new community by volunteering at Circus World here in Baraboo. I’ve really enjoyed the experience and have learned a lot about the world of the circus.
The needs of Adams Lutheran are important to me as you go through this time of transition. My plan at this time is to be available to you as you have need as well as on Sunday mornings. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you all. If you have a pastoral need, please let me know. I would rather hear 10 times about a need than not hearing it once. The best way for me to help you is for us to have open communication. My door is always open to you. To that end, if you need me please call, text or email.
